Timber for marine craft
Provides grading requirements, including moisture content limits, for structural components in craft ranging from fishing vessels and work boats to small pleasure craft. Specific requirements are given for planking and bulkhead-sheathing; decking; steam-bent timber, sawn worked-frames, floor-frames, bulkhead-frames and engine beds; stems, deadwoods, keels, keelsons, stern posts and horn timbers; stringers; chines, gunwales and deck framing; mooring and towing bitts; masts, spars and derricks. Timbers suitable for particular applications are listed, and average moisture content, strength group, shrinkage (radial and tangential), durability and steam bending quality of the various timbers are tabulated.
