Deals specifically with nickel and chromium coatings but does not preclude use of gold, copper, brass or other metals plated over nickel. It provides for, in the case of nickel plus chromium coatings, the coating to be specified by a service condition number incorporating an indication of the thermal cycling test temperature, and a coating classification system (optional); and, for nickel alone or with top coats other than chromium, by an ‘application grade’.
